Apple Introduces New Iphone

On Wednesday, Apple introduced the sixth edition of their popular cell phone, the Iphone 5. As with every previous Iphone announcement there was much hype leading up to the event and much speculation as to what features would be included in the refresh.

Over the past year in a half many people believed that Apple had fallen behind in a few areas that other cell phone manufactures have provided. This would include a larger screen, better battery life, more megapixels in the camera and 4G LTE connectivity. Apple was able to provide enhancements to these key areas and deliver another 200 features in addition.

The new phone is even thinner and lighter than the previous edition. It is currently the thinnest handset available. The screen also is now considered a 4 inch display which is an improvement from the previous 3.5 inch display. The size of the display has caused a great deal of controversy over the past 12 months due to the fact that many analyst felt Apply had fallen behind other manufactures on this feature.

Another key feature that was added was 4G LTE. Many people were surprised that 4G wasn't included last year when the 4S was introduced and no one was too surprised when it was announced. This now brings the Iphone up to standard with other new phones hitting the market.

Earlier this year Apply introduced IOS 6 that provides over 200 updates to the software running on the Iphone. The new software provides an introduction of Apple developed mapping solutions, replacing Google maps, a new passbook application that allows and users to store things such as boarding passes and gift cards as well as many incremental updates to already standard features.

With this announcement many felt Apple was simply playing "catch up" with other cell phone manufactures and didn't introduce anything revolutionary. However customers are swarming to buy the product at the highest levels yet. The phone is already considered sold out on Apples website and potential ship dates are already being pushed into October. Apple keeps the great products rolling.
